About the Coyettes

The group is comprised of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who audition in May to be a part of the team for the upcoming school year. The girls attend camp in the summer, perform halftime routines during football games and pep rallies, as well as performing at basketball halftimes. In the spring, the Coyettes attend contest and put on a Spring Show, showcasing a variety of dance routines including lyrical, jazz, hip-hop, kick, and everything in between. The Coyettes devote many hours to the team, but are involved in various other activities throughout the school and community. The team jumps at the chance to perform at special events. During October 2010, the Coyettes had the amazing opportunity of performing during the halftime of the TCU vs. Wyoming football game. The Coyettes love performing and were ecstatic about the chance to be able to perform in UTD’s Dancin’ 4 a Cause in November 2010! In February 2011, the Coyettes danced in front of the world during the halftime show of the Super Bowl XLV along with 850 other dancers from the North Texas area.  The Coyettes had the exciting opportunity to rehearse and perform with The Black Eyed Peas, Usher and Slash.  It was truly the ultimate performance of a lifetime!

Coyettes History

The Coyettes are the Varsity Drill Team for Anna High School in Anna, Texas which is located just 15 minutes north of McKinney. The team dates back to the 1950s starting as a pep squad/majorette team then transforming into a drill team in 79’ where they were called the Anna Starlighters. In 92’ under new direction, they were known as the Anna Cowgirls. From 1996-2001, they were known as the Anna High School Drill Team. In 2002, the drill team voted on a new name to compliment a new look. This is how the group became known as the Anna High School Coyettes. The Coyettes attended their first contest in 2002 and have been competitive ever since. In the spring of 2010, the Coyettes were proud to host their first ever themed spring show :Decades. They look forward to hosting many more spring reviews! By the way…The 2011 is: A Night on the Red Carpet.
